“We Read” is a partnership between the Casper Star-Tribune, the Natrona County School District (NCSD), and the Natrona County Public Library, supported by local businesses and foundations. Its aim is to promote and support literacy as a community-wide value and reading as an important, multiage, mentoring activity. The overall goal mirrors NCSD’s #1 goal – to have students K-3 grade reading at or above grade level by the end of the third grade.
Every month of the year, including summer vacation, We Read provides every student in K-3 grade in Natrona County with a new age-appropriate book. Parents can use these books to build a home library with their child.
Free Kids’ Magazine
Every week, We Read delivers a package to every household in Natrona County consisting of a current issue of the Casper Star-Tribune, the weekly Casper Journal and a copy of My Trib, a weekly kid’s magazine produced by the Star-Tribune.
Every edition of the My Trib has information relevant to the free books students receive at school to take home as part of the We Read program. The My Trib also has a variety of literacy building games, activities, and stories for each age group.
MyTrib is also distributed through grade school librarians and a network of free pick-up racks.
